菲來飛去 I believe I can fly

Sunny Passion Programme
Objective(s): To encourage students to engage with social issues by starting with their own campus community. Through the sharing of disposable cameras, students will capture moments that reflect the social challenges and stories within their university, fostering awareness and empathy. By passing cameras among participants, the project aims to promote creative expression, social responsibility, and meaningful connections. The initiative encourages students to think critically about their community, inspire positive change, and begin addressing larger social issues by starting with their immediate environment.

What kind of the social issue / problem will the project tackle?
The project tackles social issues related to community awareness and social responsibility by encouraging students to document and share personal stories of social challenges within their university. Through passing disposable cameras, students will capture moments reflecting issues such as inequality, mental health, and diversity, fostering empathy and understanding. The project aims to inspire students to actively engage with their community, raising awareness and motivating positive change, starting with their immediate campus environment.

How is the project different from other projects addressing the same social issue / problem?
The project is different from other initiatives addressing social issues because it combines creativity, storytelling, and community engagement through photography. Unlike traditional awareness campaigns or discussions, this project allows students to actively participate by capturing real, personal moments related to social challenges. By passing disposable cameras around the campus, it creates a dynamic and evolving narrative that reflects diverse perspectives, encouraging students to share not only their own experiences but also to engage with the experiences of others. This hands-on, visual approach fosters deeper connections and empathy, making the social issues more relatable and personal, rather than just abstract concepts.

Who will benefit if the project is implemented?
The project will benefit several groups within the university community:
  1. Students: They will gain a deeper understanding of social issues, enhance their empathy, and develop a sense of responsibility. It provides them with a creative platform to share personal stories and experiences while fostering connections with peers from different backgrounds.
  2. University Community: The broader campus community will benefit from increased awareness of social challenges, as students share photos and narratives that highlight issues like inequality, mental health, and diversity. This can spark meaningful conversations and lead to positive social change.
  3. Local Communities: By engaging students in social issues on a local level, the project can inspire them to take action within the surrounding communities, potentially contributing to broader societal change.
