Sports players find it difficult when looking for buddies to play sports, either for reasons like time schedule problems with friends, huge skill disparity in sports or even a lack of sports buddies around.
We see the need of looking for sports buddies in our community. Thus, we would like to design an app in where people could instantly seek sports players in the same field, match them up, and enjoy a delightful and exciting game together.
Not just sports lovers could benefit from this sports buddies matching app, everyone is welcome to start a game on our platform by looking for sports partners at the same level. The app would provide sports news, and information about sports coaches and training classes too. With more and more sports events happening around, we ultimately aim to achieve the goal of promoting sports in our community.
According to our secondary research, there are similar apps in countries like the US. However, they are mostly “fitness-dating apps” which match up one male and one female to do workout or play sports. Unlike those apps, our project aim at connecting sports lovers and facilitate their sports experience in terms of finding suitable buddies and locations. Our app initially targets tertiary students and it fills the product gap as so far there is not any app serving the purpose of matching up sports buddies in Hong Kong.
With the reference to existing peer-to-peer apps such as Uber, Airbnb and Tinder, we carried out a survey to further understand tertiary students’ demand and preferences, thus the app can best fit their needs and help improve their sports experiences.
